I just re-watched Bob Roberts, and it was is as fresh today as if it was written yesterday. Obviously there are technology things like extras would be scrolling on their smartphones instead of listening to radios, but otherwise the characters and mood and feel of the whole film was spot on. They even describe Bob Roberts as a “crypto-fascist”— and you find yourself nodding your head, but think about it — who was using that phrase in 1992??
Did you notice how some of the best scenes were filmed with one continuous camera shot? And the casting. And the original music which really adds fullness.
I had watched it many years ago, the less politically savvy me loved it (in its own way) at the time, and watching it again today was even better. Thank you for this recommendation!
